There's plenty to do...

A Theater of Nature: The Wonders of the Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera. Often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," it is famous for its incredible density of wildlife and is one of the best places in Africa to spot the endangered black rhino alongside the rest of the Big Five. Visitors can expect to see a permanent population of over 25,000 large mammals, including massive bull elephants and prides of lions that roam the crater floor.

The landscape is a sanctuary for bird enthusiasts, with more than 500 recorded species. The alkaline waters of Lake Magadi are often transformed into a sea of pink by thousands of flamingos, while the surrounding highland forests are home to specialized species like the Tacazze Sunbird. From the golden grasslands to the lush fever tree forests, the Crater offers a spectacular and diverse display of life in one of the most iconic settings on earth.

Sustainability & Conservation

Our sustainability at The Manor is rooted in a circular ecosystem, where food waste is transformed into organic fertiliser for our on-site culinary gardens. These gardens, in turn, supply our kitchens with fresh, seasonal produce, reducing our carbon footprint. With a zero-tolerance policy on single-use plastics and waste sorted at the source, we ensure our environmental impact is meticulously managed. As signatories of the Glasgow Declaration and certified by Responsible Tourism Tanzania, we maintain the highest standards of ecological stewardship through regular Land & Life Foundation audits.

Beyond our environmental initiatives, we are deeply committed to the Ngorongoro region through long-standing partnerships, specifically our support of Ganako Primary School. We contribute to vital infrastructure development and provide essential donations to enhance the learning environment for local students. By integrating these social investments with our recycling partnerships—including glass repurposing through our Shanga social enterprise—we ensure that our presence creates a lasting, positive legacy for both the land and the people of this historic highland estate.
