Each elevated room is built into the canopy, featuring an expansive, open-faced design that offers an unmatched sense of freedom and a bird’s-eye view of the Tarangire plains. Elephants, Baobabs, and Birdlife: The Wonders of Tarangire

Tarangire is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania. The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions. Visitors to the park can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to the less common animals. Other common animals include waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons. Home to more than 550 species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts who can expect so see dozens of species even in the dry season. The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world. Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common bird sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River.

    Enjoy a unique dining adventure in a traditional Maasai Boma. Savor a fusion of bush and international flavors by the glow of a campfire, accompanied by lanterns and mesmerizing traditional dance performances.
  • Night Game Drive

    Turn off the lights and take in the stars of the African sky. See the notorious Honey Badger, Bush Babies, and many other night-time roamers. Night drives are hosted by a guide and a Masai tracker and takes approximately 1-2 hours.
  • Walking Safari

    Experience the bush up close and personal. See elephants, smell the grass, and feel the soil beneath your feet. Walks are hosted by an armed guide and Masai tracker, taking approximately 1-2 hours. You must be physically fit and children must be 16 or older.
  • Maasai Village Tour

    Visit a traditional Maasai boma to gain a brief, authentic insight into the lives of these iconic semi-nomadic pastoralists. You’ll explore the family-centered village structure and learn about a culture that has flourished in this region since the 15th century.

Our sustainability at Tarangire Treetops is built on a circular philosophy, transforming food waste into organic fertiliser for our culinary gardens and strictly eliminating single-use plastics. As signatories of the Glasgow Declaration and certified by Responsible Tourism Tanzania, we maintain a zero-tolerance approach to waste through sophisticated on-site sorting and rainwater harvesting. By rigorously monitoring our carbon footprint through the Land & Life Foundation, we ensure our operations meet the highest global standards for environmental stewardship and net-zero aspirations.

Deeply rooted in the local landscape, our initiatives foster a harmonious coexistence between the people and wildlife of Tarangire. Through the Honeyguide Foundation, we provide mitigation toolkits to local farmers to protect crops and elephants from conflict in the Randilen Wildlife Management Area. Simultaneously, we empower the neighbouring Lemoti Boma by supporting traditional beadwork and purchasing handmade gifts directly from Maasai women. Through these partnerships and skill-sharing with Shanga, we ensure tourism serves as a bridge to economic independence and cultural preservation.
