Elewana was delighted to donate a safari to Elsa’s Kopje and Elephant Pepper Camp for the Born Free ‘Footsteps to Freedom’ fundraising ball. The annual event took place in London on the 19th March, and the safari was sold for over £30,000 through the auction on the night. Elewana has a long-standing affiliation with Born Free, not least because Elsa’s Kopje is located on the site where Joy and George Adamson released Elsa the lioness. Joy subsequently wrote the book Born Free, which inspired the film and the lead actress Virginia McKenna to form the charity Born Free.
The foundation’s work in Meru National Park has had a profound effect on conservation in the region and work in Amboseli National Park where Tortilis Camp is located has been fundamental to improving local community lives.
