Little Elephant Pepper Camp introduces a more intimate interpretation of Elewana’s much-loved Elephant Pepper experience in the Mara North Conservancy.

The Camp

A private safari, designed for shared experiences

Little Elephant Pepper offers a more exclusive take on the classic camp - ideal for families or small groups seeking privacy and flexibility.

Overlooking a natural mineral lick fed by a seasonal stream, the camp is positioned to quietly observe wildlife movement throughout the day, offering a sense of immersion without intrusion.

Designed with a strong nod to classic safari heritage, the camp features just three spacious safari suites and one generous two-bedroom family suite, ensuring privacy, space, and a deeply personal experience. Interiors draw inspiration from traditional safari craftsmanship: campaign-style furniture, warm woods, brass detailing, soft linens, and a restrained, earthy palette that sits comfortably within the landscape.

Dining

The Culinary Experience

A timeless invitation to dine under the stars, where the golden age of safari meets the soulful warmth of Maasai hospitality.

At Little Elephant Pepper Camp in the heart of the Masai Mara, our food story invites you to embark on a culinary journey from a bygone era. Here, our team becomes an integral part of your family as we embrace the rich traditions of Maasai culture and classic safari dining.

Amidst the beauty of the Masai Mara, our meals are moments of camaraderie and storytelling around the campfire, where every bite brings you closer to the heart of the wilderness. Join us on this timeless safari adventure, where traditions and new friendships make each dining experience truly unforgettable. Our “Out of Africa” dining experience draws inspiration from the early settlers who founded this region, where meals were grand affairs served on exquisite brass platters.

Sustainability & Conservation

Our sustainability at Elephant Pepper Camp is powered by solar energy and circular resource management. We utilise biological wastewater treatment, rainwater harvesting, and traditional charcoal refrigeration to minimise our footprint, while our culinary gardens and beekeeping provide organic produce for our kitchens. As signatories of the Glasgow Declaration and certified by Ecotourism Kenya, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy on single-use plastics and recycle all solid waste via TakaTaka Solutions, ensuring our operations remain at the forefront of eco-friendly hospitality.

Beyond conservation, we are dedicated to empowering the local community through our partnership with Ololomei Primary School. We host regular career mentorship days to inspire students and, alongside the Land & Life Foundation, provide comprehensive secondary school scholarships for high-achieving, disadvantaged youth. By investing in both education and professional mentorship, we ensure that our presence in the Mara North Conservancy creates a lasting, positive legacy for the next generation of hospitality and conservation leaders.

Highlights

Taste of elegant safari from years gone by

Although extremely comfortable with spacious tents, en suite bathrooms, gourmet food and elegant furnishings, the camp is very low key and 100% solar. The camp managers join guests at the dinner table and campfire, sharing their stories and knowledge of the bush, reminiscent of a bygone safari era.

Private Masai Mara

Mara North Conservancy is a privately managed conservancy in the core of the Masai Mara. Game driving is restricted to those vehicles belonging to lodges within the Conservancy, so Little Elephant Pepper guests have this outstanding part of the Masai Mara, almost to themselves. Within Mara North Conservancy is Leopard Gorge, famed for being the home of several feline characters from BBC’s Big Cat Diaries.

Children get back to nature

From fiercely contested croquet matches in the lazy afternoons, to walks identifying tracks, to learning to use a handmade bow and arrow - Little Elephant Pepper Camp offers good old-fashioned exploratory fun.

The Migration

Although tucked away in a private conservancy away from the crowds, guests to Little Elephant Pepper Camp still have access to the excitement of the Migration and its river crossings by spending a day in the reserve with a picnic lunch.
